An eclectic musician born in Rome, I believe in the concept of a well-rounded individual: an artist actively engaged in society. Charmed by the figures of the past in my childhood, I went on to study piano, harpsichord, composition, conducting and chamber music, as well as theoretical physics, with an aspiration of becoming a Renaissance man.

In a nutshell

Throughout my career, I have conducted orchestras and choirs, founded ensembles, accompanied at the national and international competitions and for renowned European conservatoires. Honored with several prizes and awards, I played extensively at significant venues in Europe and South Asia. Check them out in the map below!

Since 2014 I have recorded fourteen CDs of classical and contemporary music, and wrote the original score for a feature film and several theater productions. Joyously I embrace using the modern tools available for digital music composition and performance.

Yearning to be a part of a community and connect with the emerging generation, I have taken on the challenge of heading the music department at the Ecole d’Humanité. The experience has been rewarding both when it comes to passing on my knowledge and learning something myself.

Historical Performance Practice

Personal study of all the main 16th to 19th century treatises. Dissertations on Girolamo Diruta “Il Transilvano”; on the historical development of the Toccata form; on the relationship between late'-renaissance and baroque music, poetry and the singing of birds.

Studies with Jacqueline Ross on the historical performance practice of the Romantic music, with a particular focus on Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann and Brahms.

I currently own and play a 1823 Heichele fortepiano (Viennese action) and a 1814 Broadwood Tafelklavier (English action).

Composition

As a contemporary classical music composer, I belong to the Roman School of Composition that has its origin in Goffredo Petrassi. I studied with the late Armando Badolato and then with Claudio Perugini: they taught me the importance of a strong technical proficiency, of formal awareness and craftsmanship.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Composition (vecchio ordinamento) at "Egidio Romualdo Duni" Conservatory of Matera, maestro Claudio Perugini

  • Masterclasses at Arts Academy, with Claudio Perugini

Conducting

Thanks to a background in Composition, I combine the analytical approach to the aesthetic and emotional one. My love for historically informed performance is translated in a broader palette of choices. I love working with young musicians on developing their potential.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Conducting (vecchio ordinamento) at "San Pietro a Majella" Conservatory of Naples, maestro Francesco Vizioli

  • Masterclasses with Lior Shambadal

Organ

I have studied organ and Gregorian chant with Juan Paradell Solè, principal organist of the Cappella Musicale Pontificia “Sistina” of the Vatican State.
